When Sean Evans is introduced, the tension between him and federation owner Old Freddie Young is palpable. (Freddie suffered a black eye in an altercation with Sean when the last video production got out of hand.)
The match starts off with Adam in the top position. Adam enjoys a few moments of control before Sean racks up points for an escape.
After several minutes of standing hand-to-hand combat with neither wrestler gaining an advantage, it becomes clear that this is an evenly matched contest. The expression on Sean's face indicates that he is both surprised and impressed by Adam's tenacity.
The boys trade several pin attempts but both still have enough energy to power out before a three-count. Eventually, Adam is nearly knocked into some living room furniture, and the whistle blows.
With several LRW Wrestling appearances under his belt, Sean should have been the clear favorite in this match. However, there were certain instances in which Sean actually seemed intimidated by the rookie upstart.
By this time, both wrestlers are visibly tired. Summoning the strength to power out of pin attempts is becoming difficult.
Adam had totally exhausted himself while struggling to keep Sean's shoulders on the mat during a series of pin attempts. Sensing Adam's fatigue, Sean moved in for the kill. Finally, just one minute and ten seconds before the 15-minute time limit, Sean scores a pinfall victory over his plucky opponent.
A thoroughly disappointed Adam Nowak was interviewed after the match. Freddie acknowledged that both wrestlers competed with integrity and either young man could have been victorious. Adam was gracious in defeat and called Sean, "a great athlete."
A confident (to the point of hubris) Sean Evans was also interviewed after the match. When asked to say a few words about his opponent, Sean was not as deferential as Adam had been: "He was alright, but nothing special. I knew I was going to win."
Nevertheless, Sean Evans has earned a shot at the LRW Wrestling Super-Star Championship which has been held by our controversial title holder, Fratboy Francis Franklin (aka "Triple F") for nearly three years. Freddie has announced that this match will be a no-disqualification match -- so "Triple F" will not be able to save his title via an intentional DQ. This just might be the Fratboy's toughest challenge to date. Keep checking this blog for all of the late breaking details!!!
